Leadership
These lectures will serve as an overview of key concepts in leadership. Most organizations have developed competency models used to both define and appraise the attributes of leaders. Although we will refer throughout the lectures to various leadership competencies, our intent is to reconsider the practice of leadership and management. Rather than discuss the latest hot topic, recent popular book, or social media presence of your favorite leadership guru, I would like us to focus on the core of management—the habits that will allow you to excel in your careers. The lectures will progress with a focus on managing oneself, others, and teams.
Topics will either directly or indirectly include:
Leadership Styles
Person-Culture Fit
Understanding Individual Differences
Employee Engagement
Characteristics of Derailed Managers
Talent Development
Talent Development
Career-Management
Appraising Individual Performance
Influencing Up-Down-Sideways
